Our Current Name Quandry

COPIED FROM OTHER BLOG:

Who knew it would be so crazy hard to agree on a boat name?!?

We headed down to St. Augustine yesterday for an afternoon of boat browsing.  Not really shopping, as we are just trying to narrow down the brands/models in the Catamaran world.  We spent the entire 3 hr drive down and most of the drive back brainstorming boat names.  Anyway, we hooked up with a great broker and learned SO much about Cats (alas, no boat name).  Great way to spend our Saturday.  ðŸ™‚

I think I’ve figured out a way to get around the boat name/blog glitch for now…  I wanted to have our boat name before starting the blog, but we don’t have it yet, and we’re already in the boat research process, so I need to get busy on the blog.  I think I’ll go with something generic and then when we have the name nailed down, I can have the blog point to the “official” website.  I think it’ll work.  Do you know of a glitch in that plan?  If so, let me know!

Here’s our current favorite catamaran from our search yesterday:

Fountaine Pagot Mahe 36′
Ours will not be this new and shiney…

Isn’t she gorgeous?!  Now who knows if this will be our final choice, but it sure is fun to start the shopping process.

  1. Jennifer, congrats on the almost-new boat! No doubt, it's not easy choosing a name.

This might help if you haven't seen it yet. We just updated the boat name section on firstboat with a top 10 list of tips to help name your boat (FirstBoat.com.)

There's also a random boat name generator that might help spark some ideas.

Good luck finding the right name!

  2. I don't have a top 5. The last conversation led to names including: Bob, Carl and I think John. Clearly we are burnt out on the naming thing this week!

I plan to take LOADS of pics. I unfortunately did not take any of the actual boats we looked at, as I knew that we would NOT be buying any of them. Maybe when it's closer to time to actually buy… (and it was 9 trillion degrees and I was literally pouring sweat – like a faucet was turned on over my head. Seriously.)

  4. p.s. can you take that caliber of photographs like the one you included above (boat interior)? Would that require any special skill/equpt other than that which you already have? Maybe a wide angle lens…I guess I'm a photo-a-holic, love blogs filled with fabulous pics 🙂 And if you filled your blog with awesome photos along this journey of how you got started…that would be the bombdiggity! LOL! I'd be waiting on every entry, not that I'm not already…
